Joseph of Arimathea is Jesus’ uncle on his mother’s side. A successful entrepreneur and trader, but also a deeply spiritual individual. He admires the work of Mary Magdalene and Jesus, and he emerges as the man who creates the preconditions to support them in organisational and material matters. Using his trade contacts and spiritual connections, he guides Jesus and Mary Magdalene together, and later Mary Magdalene alone, to the British Isles. Joseph is Mary Magdalene’s rock and support. He founded the first Christian community on the Avalon peninsula, now known as Glastonbury and also referred to as the New Jerusalem.
